Dry Mixed Recycling

Dry Mixed Recycling and Commingled Waste

Mid-UK Recycling operate a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) for commingled waste and commercial dry mixed recycling at our Barkston site. The facility has the capacity to process 150,000 tonnes of commingled waste and commercial dry mixed recycling each year.

Using our state-of-the-art MRF, we have the capability to extract a wide range of recyclable materials. Our automated and hand picking processes enable us to separate these materials for recycling, provided that they have not been contaminated by other waste streams, such as food waste. The recyclable materials extracted are then supplied to re-processors for manufacture into new products.

Recyclable materials

Our MRF processes the following recyclable materials:

Note: All the materials listed below must be clean and free from any contamination

  • Cardboard and paper (shredded paper is not acceptable)
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Steel food and drink cans
  • Aluminium food and drink cans, aerosols
  • Plastics, including clean pots, tubs and trays (black plastic is not acceptable)

Our processes maximise the value of recyclable materials whilst securing sustainable, fully traceable outlets. To enable this, we ensure that our material outputs always conform to re-processor quality standards and are traded and shipped in accordance with national and international regulations.

We understand the fluctuating market dynamics and have developed close partnerships with the re-processors. This ensures the recyclable material is always processed in the optimum way. Wherever possible, we support home markets whilst ensuring that the price and value is competitive.
